Back Acne Home Remedies

A good alternative to chemical treatments and products are back acne home remedies. There are a number of traditional home and herbal treatments which have proven to work at treating back acne, in combination with skin care products.

Several botanicals may even have the potential to replace standard treatments for mild to moderate back acne. These home remedies for back acne are usually effective, do not have side effects and are well tolerated by the skin.

Herbs used for washing, such as chamomile (Matricaria recutita), marigold (Calendula officinalis), and wheat bran (Triticum aestivum) can reduce inflammation of the skin, can reduce sweat, and can also fight acne bacteria. They can be associated with skin care products such as creams or lotions applied topically (on your skin). Bark extracts work very well. Witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) is the best known of all bark extracts and is commonly used. It is considered to be perfectly safe if applied on the skin. Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is also quite common.

Tea tree oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) can be used as a home remedy for back acne. It can reduce inflammation of the skin and can also fight p. acnes, the bacteria that cause acne, thanks to its anti-bacterial properties. According to studies, tea tree oil is as effective as benzoyl peroxide in the treatment of back acne, and contrary to benzoyl peroxide, it does not cause any irritation or skin discomfort, which can be a real advantage, especially for people who have sensitive skin.

Basil is an herb that has antiseptic and antibacterial properties. It can also be an effective back acne home remedy, although its effectiveness has not yet been proven scientifically.

Oregon grape root (Mahonia aquifolium) is traditionally used to treat skin rashes associated with pustules (pimples). It has the capacity to fight bacteria such as p. acnes, the bacteria responsible for acne.

Apart from herbal back acne home remedies, there are a number of remedies that people have been using with success, depending on several factors. These home remedies for back acne are no overnight solution but they have proven to work quite well for many people who used them on a daily basis and consistently over a few weeks or months. They include baking soda, egg white mask, honey mask, lemon juice, vinegar, aloe vera, and green tea.
